Lights on at the RCPWD and unexpected TV appearances!

Here comes Cohort 7 with yet another interesting blog for you all to read from the Resource Centre for Persons with Disabilities!

Week 6 began with preparations for sensitisation at two schools, they both went really well and for the first time in our Cohort we had lights on and finally could use the PowerPoint presentation we had made. We also got the chance to show an amazing video on the London 2012 Para-Olympics - because of this we would say it’s our best sensitisation yet! As a cohort we also faced some challenges we haven’t come across yet – for one of the school visits three out of the seven volunteers fell ill and couldn’t present as planned, thankfully our hardworking ICV’s stepped in and did three hours of presenting without rehearsing! We are very proud and thankful to them this week!
Our interesting activities doesn’t end there, as later on in the week the group and the Resource centre’s manager Mr.Samed visited the Chief at the Sagnarigu community at the chiefs palace! The visit was a success as the chief is allowing us to carry out a community sensitisation next week! We are all very excited about it as this will be our first community sensitisation so it’s full steam ahead with preparations for it!

So we have reached the half-way point here in Ghana and so we have had a mid-term review with International Service! Emily and Piso came in and we were able to discuss all that we have achieved so far. This was great as it gave us time to reflect with pride on all the things we have been doing so far and make us even more excited for the things to come!

Week 6 ends with an unexpected bang, here are at the Northern Regional Resource centre for persons with disabilities – proving there’s never a dull moment! The national television station ‘TV3’ turned up here at the resource centre wanting to record an interview with us to discuss disability issues in Ghana! For the first time in the history of the Northern Regional Resource Centre for Persons with Disabilities (whilst International Service have been here) we made a nationwide television appearance!  Hurray!!!!!

That’s it from us for another week folks! Well done to the team for the hard work this week! We have so much to do and everyone is doing their part! Go #TeamResource!!!!
